About SimpleSuite

SimpleSuite is built by Emmaus Development LLC, a one-person software company in Oklahoma. I'm Rene, and I've been building business software for over 30 years.

Why I Built This

I've spent decades helping small businesses manage their data—contacts, invoices, inventory, jobs. Mostly using FileMaker, building custom solutions for specific needs.

Somewhere along the way, business software got complicated. Everything became a subscription. Your data moved to someone else's servers. Simple tools turned into bloated platforms with features you'll never use and prices that keep climbing.

I kept hearing the same thing from clients: "I just need something simple that works."

"I don't need Salesforce. I need to track 200 customers and send invoices. Why is this so hard?"

SimpleSuite is my answer. Tools that do one thing well. Your data stays on your machine. Pay once, own it forever. No accounts, no monthly fees, no wondering what happens when the company pivots or gets acquired.

The Local-First Philosophy

I believe your business data belongs to you. Not to a SaaS company. Not to venture capitalists. Not sitting on servers you don't control.

Local-first means the software runs on your device. It works offline. If my company disappeared tomorrow, your apps would keep working and your data would still be yours in standard formats you can open anywhere.

This isn't anti-technology. It's pro-ownership. Cloud sync is available if you want it—but it's optional, not required.

What I Believe In

Simplicity over features

Every feature adds complexity. I'd rather have five features that work perfectly than fifty that kind of work.

Ownership over rental

Pay once, own it. Your data in formats you can read. No hostage situations.

Honesty over marketing

I won't tell you SimpleSuite will transform your business or 10x your productivity. It's just solid software that does what it says.

Sustainability over growth

I'm not trying to become the next unicorn. I'm building software that pays the bills and helps people. That's enough.

My Background

Before software, I spent 20+ years in B2B sales—computers, digital editing equipment, the stuff businesses actually use. That taught me what matters to people running real operations: reliability, simplicity, and not having to call support every week.

Then I moved into database development. FileMaker mostly, building custom systems for everyone from Hollywood equipment rental companies to property tax consultants. I've seen how businesses actually work, not how software companies think they should work.

SimpleSuite is the product of all that experience. Tools built by someone who's been in the trenches with small business owners for three decades.
